Manchester City
(8/13) v Tottenham (5)
Manchester City haven’t been at their best so far this
season but are still unbeaten this season and in 34 league games at home, so
not all is wrong at the Etihad despite their dreadful Champions League form and
failure to keep more than three clean sheets. Tottenham have the pace and skill
to give the Champions trouble and have shown signs of life under Villas Boas
but they have weaknesses too, as shown by their shock loss to Wigan last
weekend, and they might go down narrowly in a repeat of the last two seasons.

Newcastle (19/20) v
West Ham (3)
Home advantage should just about shade this encounter for
Newcastle, whose three wins this season have all come at St James’s Park, with
West Ham’s only away win having come at bottom of the table QPR. That’s
proabaly oversimplifying it but there’s no question that Pardew’s men are a
superior outfit on home turf and they should have enough quality to beat West
Ham, even if Allardayce’s men can make things difficult for them. A home win by
a goal (like all three of Newcastle’s this year) looks to be the value.
Advice: 1 pt Newcastle to win by 1 goal (3/1 Ladbrokes)
Chelsea (19/20) v
Liverpool (3)
Barring an extremely unfortunate 3-2 loss to league leaders Manchester
United, Chelsea have won every home game in the league and beaten Tottenham and
Arsenal, while serving notice of their tenacity when beating Shakhtar Donetsk
in midweek, albeit in fortunate circumstances. Liverpool have just two wins
this season (one away) and despite holding an excellent recent record in this fixture,
look extremely vulnerable.
Advice: 4 pts Chelsea (19/20 Hills)
