6.05 Punchestown
Tattersalls Ireland Champion Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) (Class
1) (4YO plus)
Winner €49,600
Advice: 6 pts win Un Atout (8/11 general), 2 pts Un Atout and Hurricane Fly (5.30) double
(2.07 general)
Mullaghanoe River: Impressive in bumper at Leopardstown but
strangely flat in maiden hurdle over the same trip little more than a month
later; Impressive at Navan with that win working out well but more needed here.
Sizing Rio: Looked to have future when landing Grade 3 at
Navan but exposed the last twice and playing for small money here despite
ground being to suit.
Ubak: Came good with 16 length romp at Aintree after several
promising efforts but well beaten in the Neptune and not sure he wants heavy
ground.
Un Atout: First run in Graded company when fourth at
Cheltenham in Supreme Novice hurdle but shaped far better than his 18 length
fourth suggested, with the front three ahead of him all top class over trip
which may not have suited; Much like stablemate, swims through heavy ground and
this test sure to suit him down to the ground.
VERDICT: With the unfortunate withdrawal of Pont Alexandre, UN ATOUT - who promises to improve for the step up in trip form 2 miles and ran a creditable race at Cheltenham considering his relative inexperience - has little left to beat before he goes chasing and looks to be the bet of the day
