3.30 Newbury
AON Greenham Stakes (Group 3) (Str) (Class 1) (3YO only)
Winner £34,026
Advice: 6 pts win Olympic Glory (8/11 general)
Correspondent: Plenty to like about the way that this dual
AW winner strode away from oppostion in maiden and Novice stakes but this a whole
different test and easily passed.
Hiddon Coin: Commendable third in valuable mile handicap off
81 but that came after his last 4 wins had come in AW claimers and mountain to
climb, even with his hanging still being an issue.
Moojahim: Very green in Prix Morny after impressive Ascot
debut and since underlined his claims to be classic contender with impressive
win in Mill Reef Stakes here and then good second to Reckless Abandon at
Newmarket in Cheveley Park; Yet to race on slower than good, but otherwise, big
chance.
Olympic Glory: Absolutely hacked up on debut at Goodwood and
then posted extremely promising second in Coventry (his only defeat in four
starts, to Champion 2yo Dawn Approach) before winning Superlative at Newmarket
on heavy ground; Goodwood didn’t suit but always getting there when winning
Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and class saw him through heavy ground to win at
Longchamp in Prix Jean Luc; That form makes him the second best 2yo of last
year and will take the beating.
Sir Patrick Moore: Useful form in France after making
successful debut here last May but was outclassed in Racing Post Trophy on final
start and can’t see him making proper impact here.
VERDICT: This lies between Moojahim and OLYMPIC GLORY, with
ready preference for the latter who found only Dawn Approach too good in a 5
race campaign which bought him a Group 1 and two Group 2 successes last season.
The ground – a contentious point for some backers of Moojahim – will be no
problem and his form looks to be just a touch stronger than that of his main
rival, so with his stable in such fine form, he’s readily preferred.
Wow, great blog.Really looking forward to read more. Really Cool.
