Much like the accurate recovery time between Cheltenham and
in some cases Aintree has been crucial to finding winners this week, the weight
turnaround from the Cheltenham Festival cross country to today’s La Touche Cup
(4.50). regardless of the different terms
today, Big Shu will take a lot of catching once again for Barry Cash and Peter
Maher, but at level weights today this will take a lot more winning, especially
if others can come back to their best. The best pre Cheltenham form has been
held by Arabella Boy, who beat Big Shu giving weight here in Febuary, and
Bostons Angel all the way back in November, but it’s Jessie Harrington’s charge
who makes the most appeal at the weights. Unable to land a blow in the cross
country, he now comes here 19lbs better off with Big Shu for a 15 and a half
length beating, 8lbs better off with Outlaw Pete for just over a length, and is
15lbs better off at the weights with Arabella Boy for a 10 length beating – or
if you want to be pedantic, he’s also 10lbs better off for their November
meeting. With Uncle Junior now looking lazier than last year – with
cheek-pieces on him to compensate – there’s a lot to like about Harrington’s
charge.
The best mare in training, Quevega, runs in the World Series
Hurdle in the feature race of the card, and his trainer has plenty of ready
made contenders to take the mantelpiece. Annie Power is chief amongst them, but
Twingline (for the same connections) and Upsie should take all the beating in
the Orchid Transport Mares’ Novice Hurdle in a race which is well worth watching
for the future.
Advice
1 pt win Bostons Angel, 4.50 Punchestown (5/1 general)
