2012 Olympics - Women's Sprint (Cycling)

Britain’s golden girl of the track, Vicky Pendleton (pictured), is a hot favourite to win Olympic Sprint gold and leave the Cycling game a true legend of the game after her stunning Keirin win and it’s hard to argue with that. Since the start of the games she’s been in scintillating form, breaking a world record with Varnish in the sprint despite being 0.3 seconds down starting her lap – even if she did start it too early – and she secured the all-important top seeding with an Olympic record in qualifying, going 0.081 seconds quicker than Australian rival Anna Meares, who couldn’t even medal  (fifth)in the Kierin. Meares is sure to give her all but Pendleton looks to have mastered her tactically as well as with raw speed, but the biggest rival maybe China’s Guo Shang, who helped set a world record with Gong Jinjie twice in the team sprint and was second in the Kierin. Her hopes of beating Vicky look slim but she shouldn’t be as big as 8/1 and Ladbrokes – the only firm who will go e/w on this – are 11/2 1/3rd the place for a small profit should she make the gold medal race, although the best bet might be to sit back and hope for a small upset.

Advice

1 pt Guo Shang (8/1 Sportingbet)
