2012 Olympics - Women's 800m

Has there ever been anyone in Athletics more unfairly treated than Caster Semenya (left)? An unknown before 2009 personal best in the 800 meters of 2:04.23, it’s so easy to have forgotten how she took the world by storm at the 2009 World Championships with a time of 1:55.45 in the final, looking as if she could have dominated for years to come. But then came the accusations. "Just look at her," said Mariya Savinova, of Russia, in one of the least sporting quotes you will ever see or read.

A year of humiliation ensued, she came back into competition, rocked up with a strong time in the heats, and now all of a sudden is 8/11 favourite. That could be fair if at her 2009 form, but in World Champion Maria Savinova and defending Olympic Champion Pamela Jelimo, the betting choice for this is outstandingly easy; Take the two champions against the favourite.

Advice

1 pt Maria Savinova (10/3 general)

1 pt Pamela Jelimo (5/1 Stan James)
