1.00 Chantilly
Prix Du Bois
(Group 3) (Class 1) (2YO only)
Winner €51,104
Pick: Boomerang Bob (win)
Family One: Posted impressive efforts on first two starts,
winning on both soft and good ground with plenty to spare; Ran into Queen Mary
sixth (ran more than creditable race) last time and went down fighting so good
run assured.
Murano: Bred for nothing but speed (Whipper colt who is by a
Montjeu mare) and put away next time out winner with the minimum of fuss first
time out; Should cope with the drop in trip and run a big race, although this
is a tough event.
Boomerang Bob: Comfortable winner on debut at Kempton
although seemed nothing out of ordinary when beaten at Windsor; Left that miles
behind when second in Norfolk and should take some catching here if in same
form.
Pyman’s Theory: Well regarded (5/4 for debut ) & made no
mistake at Leicester on second start; Disappointing when fifth in Listed race
but once again very promising when going clear and building advantage Bannock
couldn’t reduce in Sandown listed event; Went from good to bad when well beaten
off in Norfolk; Has no real excuses for that run.
Bay Shore: Brought by her current trainer for €28,000 after
finishing third in Saint Cloud Claimer; Has proven to be an astute buy as she
is unbeaten in three races since and the easy winner of a 5½f conditions race
at Maisons-Laffitte last month; This step up the ladder but should go well; Cut
no problem.
VERDICT: A tight event and a big test for the Norfolk form.
The slight suspicion is that the UK Juveniles are a decent crop and that the
form is worth trusting, so BOOMERANG BOB is taken to uphold form with Pyman’s
Theory and beat the home team, best of which may be Family One.
