David & Toni Eyles Beginners' Chase - 18th November 2011

1.35 Ascot
David & Toni Eyles Beginners' Chase (Class 3)  (4YO plus)
Winner £7,507

Advice: 2 pts win Solix

Owner detailsBlues and Two’s: Irish point second who made an excellent return from a year off over hurdles when winning at Wincanton over slightly longer than this; Ideal situation for first fencing start with small field but this also a big task facing some useful recruits

Owner detailsDuke Of Lucca: Very useful hurdler who was once bordering on top class in novice season; Jumped well enough on chasing debut at Chepstow (a mistakes 3 out not helping his chances) and should make another bold bid.

Owner detailsNo Secrets: Was deeply impressive on second hurdling start when hacking up from Yabora with ease and not disgraced when easily beaten by useful Poungnatch here over C&D two runs ago before successful attempt at Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle; Useful recuit.

Owner detailsSolix: French import who was highly rated in France where he won a Grade Three over two and a half miles at Auteuil, before finishing fourth behind Bel La Vie in Grade 1 at same track; Made encouraging start to life in Britain here when running respectably in Totesport Trophy and Coral Cup; Rates a useful recuit for in form team.

VERDICT: A small but select field. No Secrets and Blues And Two’s should make good chasers while Duke Of Lucca holds the experience card over the field but SOLIX is an interesting recruit to chasing for an in form team and gets the vote.
