Winner £10,402
Advice: 2 pts win Molotof (11/10 Bet365)
Molotof: Showed useful form when runner – up on both starts
in French juvenile hurdles; Made pleasing debut when second to Zarkandar at
Kempton and travelled well in Triumph before run flattened out; Impressive
return when holding well regarded stablemate of Plenty Pocket with ease at
Wincanton and should go really well.
Plenty Pocket: Badly in need of the run when eighth at Ascot
on debut and deeply impressive when winning on seasonal debut at Kempton,
barely coming off the bridle; Seems like the sky’s the limit for him and
Butler: 85 rated flat sort who won off 10 lbs lower over 10
furlongs at Ripon for Luca Cumani; Looks like a useful recruit for Tim Vaughan
bit a bit exposed on the flat and this a tough introduction.
Our Joe Mac: Very useful on the flat, ending up with a
rating of 101 having won three times (but better placed form, including when
fourth in the Betfred Silver Bowl); Probably the best of the flat recruits
despite this being a very tough intro for him.
War Poet: Made a lot of smooth headway when winning for
second time at Thirsk when last seen, resuming progression which had seen him
as short at 9/1 for the Old Newton Cup; Best watched.
VERDICT: A race to keep an eye on, with the three hurdling
debutants all holding decent flat form, the best of which being Our Joe Mac.
This should still be between Plenty Pocket and MOLTOF, who has travelled like a
good horse on all three runs he’s had in the UK, notably in the Triumph before
flattening up the hill. His recent win only confirmed that promise.
