Fortria Chase 2011

2.50 Navan
Fortria Chase (grade 2) (Class 1)  (5YO plus)
Winner €24,375

Advice: 2 pts win Big Zeb (5/6 Boylesports)

Owner detailsBig Zeb: As good as ever last season when winning three out of his five starts, well held by Sizing Europe before then beating him in titanic battle at Punchestown; Won this race for last two seasons and with a good record fresh, every chance of winning it a third.

Owner detailsNoble Prince: Developed into top novice chaser last season with Jewson chase win at Cheltenham Festival, looking unlucky to go down in the Powers Gold Cup; Reapperance win farcically easy and should give the favourite a race for all this is much tougher.

Owner detailsForpadydeplaster: Arkle winner in 2009 who has finish runner up in 5 Grade 1’s after that, only occasion when not in the frame coming because of sickness; Thankfully not in poor way, but once again clinically abnormal after lacklustre reappearance run and one to swerve until better performances.

Owner detailsPredateur: Connections trying different headgear on the once useful ex Nicholls horse; Twice placed in summer but no good here.

Owner detailsTrafford Lad: Once a top level novice chaser but lost his form since being sold out of Eamon Sheehy’s yard and this trip too short for him.

VERDICT: A top clash in prospect between top 2 mile chaser BIG ZEB and hot prospect Noble Prince, with added spice if Forpadydeplaster can join the party. Preference is for Colm Murphy’s charge, who bids for a hat – trick in this event, although Noble Prince should push him all the way.
