The Clonmel Oil Chase is the highlight of a good card
tomorrow and it can be retained by Tranquil Sea, who won this so impressively
last year before going onto win the John Durkan at Fairyhouse. Edward O’Grady’s
charge has a record of 22121 first time out under rules while also boasting 9
wins on soft or worse tomorrow – The ground is currently described as soft.
Tharawaat should give him a good run for his money on his
favoured soft ground, having held his head high in big races at the top
festivals last spring before reappearing with an impressive win in a soft
ground handicap chase under top weight, while Physcho too has class, but there’s
littled evidence to suggest that both should beat Tranquil Sea if he runs to
his best, and nothing here seems to suggest that he won’t.
Meanwhile, Willie Mullins’s Blazing Tempo can get back into
the winners enclosure in the E.B.F. T.A. Morris Memorial Mares Chase (2.55).
Third in the Ladbrokes.com Chase last time out, she may have disappointed some
but Kauto Stone was always going to be a tough prospect to handle and the
second is a solid chaser, not to mention the fact that she was going to improve
for the run (her first since September. This trip and ground suits her to the
bone and a big run is expected here.
Advice
2 pts win Tranquil Sea, 2.25 Clonmel (5/6 Paddy Power)
2 pts win Blazing Tempo, 2.55 Clonmel (5/2 VCBet)
