1.20 Haydock
Betfair Graduation Chase (Class 2) (4YO plus)
Winner £12,996
Advice: 2 pts win Toubab (11/8 Boylesports)
Doctor David: Would have to be of major interest if able to
show his best form from two years ago, which involved a fourth behind Kalahari
King and two excellent runners up efforts (one here); Stable good at readying
one so of interest here.
Silk Drum: Career best when winning 2m Grade 3 handicap at
the National meeting; Encouraging comeback run when fifth to impressive winner at
Aintree and interesting with that behind him.
Nadiya De La Vega: Looked like quite the prospect when
winning first two starts in UK, showing excellent attitude to get better of
useful chaser at Kempton; Found out upped in class but still talented and can
take a hand.
Shadrack: Going well when falling two out here on chase
debut and made no mistake when at Carlisle, winning weak event on the bridle at
Huntingdon; Confidence boosted but far more needed here.
Toubab: Didn’t quite go on from his impressive win in
Haydock novice last season but that not without decent efforts (unsuited by
heavy ground the next twice); Good chase debut when looking set to win for a
long time at October meeting and then swimming late on when caught by more
experienced rival; Should go well at track that suits with nice run behind him
and the one to beat.
VERDICT: Doctor David is a fascinating and overpriced
contender here it’s to be believed that he can bring back his best form to the
table after an absence – something that his progressive trainer has already
done with a similarly high class recruit in Ski Sunday – but TOUBAB himself is
a high class short who should be suited by a flatter track than Cheltenham,
where he tied up badly late on after looking set to win.
