El Clasico 3 2012-12 - Barcelona v Real Madrid (La Liga)

It’s rare in this modern day and age that you get title deciders in October but defeat for Real Madrid tonight against eternal rivals Barcelona would all but end their title hopes in La Liga. The defending champions lie eight points behind the Catalans after just six La Liga games thanks to an appalling start, although for those who have invested in Moruinhio’s men to retain their title, it’s worth noting that they failed to win two of their first six games last and went onto win the League by six points, including a 2-1 win here at the backend of last year.

Barcelona players celebrate David Villa's late goal completed a 3-2 comeback win at SevillaHome advantage and superior form has made Barcelona odds on favourites and based on results those quotes are quite difficult to argue with but Madrid are playing much better now than they had been at the start of the season, where opportunities were much harder to come by and the likes of Gonzao Higuain especially weren’t converting them. A tally of 9 goals in just a week was the form which saw them romp the league last season, and their 4-1 win against Ajax was exactly the kind of performance which shows they they’re back to something like their best form. Those two victories made it 5 wins out of their last 6 in all competitions and their improving Clasico record needs looking into too – they’ve won two of the last three meetings between the sides, including a 2-1 success last season here to all but win the league.

Barcelona have won all of their La Liga games so far this season but they’ve been given a few scares so far – notably when Cesc Fabregas’s blatant cheating what used as the Catalyst for their 3-2 win at Sevilla – and come here without their two pivotal centre backs, Carols Puyol and Gerard Pique. Against ordinary opposition this would be of no concern but Madrid are no ordinary tem and Javier Mascherano was badly exposed in the 2-1 defeat in the second leg of the Supercup.

The 3/1 on offer will tempt many and is worth looking at, but given that both teams have scored in the last 9 Clasicos, the 9/2 offered on Madrid winning with both teams scoring is the best value on the visitors for all concerned. Madrid have scored 2 goals on their last 4 trips to the Camp Nou, so 3-2 correct score players also seem like a smart move for value terms.

Advice

1 pt Real Madrid to win while conceding (9/2 general)

1 pt 3-2 Real Madrid (30/1 Bet Victor)

1 pt 3-2 Barcelona (20/1 general)
