Big fields, numerous plans, and the general hurly burly of
the festival have kept me well off the handicaps so far but I can’t resist
Holywell in the upcoming Pertemps handicap hurdle. Put simply, he’s progressed with
each race this season, is only 6, and bumped into an established sort who had
good form in Ely Brown last time out. The change of headgear could be potential
positive for him too, and with a strongly run 3m sure to suit, it’s hard to
resist a small each/way at 25/1. Captain Sunshine isn’t a straightforward type
and the form of Emma Lavelle is a big worry, but all he wants is a big field
with horses to run through and this decent ground should be good for him, and
he gets a tightly contested second vote.
