The joy of National Hunt racing is the sheer class that can
be put on display without the real need for a bet – Ned Buntline, Bog Warrior,
Staying Article, Lord Of Lords, and Mount Benulben are just some of the names
running at Fairyhouse today (and to think their main feature is tomorrow) –
while Big Bucks and Bobs Worth are two massive headline attractions at Newbury.
Michael Flips (yellow jacket) might not be in that class, but at 8/1 in the
last at Newbury today (3.40) he’s far too big considering that he’s not had the
chance to show his best in two runs this season. Only fifth behind the strongly
fancied Gus Macrae on his seasonal debut at Ascot, he now comes here 11lb
better off for his 9 and a half-length beating, and should also be in better
health off a 3lbs lower mark. With the ground having dried out a fair bit
overnight (he prefers it good and couldn't handle the ground when pulled up in
the Paddy Power) he should be well upto making a bold bid here today and looks
to be value.
Advice
1 pt win Michaeal Flips, 3.40 Newbury (8/1 general)
