Premiership - Boxing Day

They say to ‘save the best until last’ and while Liverpool’s Boxing Day clash with Stoke might not be at the top of the list for football afcionados, it does potentially offer the best bet of the day in the draw between the two sides.

Emmanuel Adebayor and Glenn WhelanStoke have drawn 10 of their games so far this season (including their last three) kept a league high nine clean sheets, and have not lost a top-flight game on home turf since February, conceding only three league goals there all season and holding one of the two remaining unbeaten home records in the Premiership. Unbeaten in their last eight, having let in just 13 goals all season.  Liverpool themselves are level on points with the Potters, have also drawn 7 games this season, never won at Stoke in the Premier League, and have shared four 0-0 meetings in recent times, including the last two. At 23/10 it’s the obvious choice of the three match odds, and a half-time full-time bet of 4/1 for the same outcome, along with no goalscorer at a general 8-1 (an excellent trading option on Betfair).

It’s set to be an exciting day in the Premiership, but little appealed from a betting perspective barring a potential upset for Fulham in the form of a home defeat to Southampton. 10-3 is tempting considering that both sides have let in the same amount of goals, but the better bet would probably be Over 2.5 goals at a general 4/6 (still bigger than both teams to score). Before this weekend Tottenham made appeal going to a Villa side that don’t have their quality, but a backlash from Sunday is expected and for all that Andre Villas Boas’s side have looked very good at times this season, they can be shut down as Stoke have demonstrated so well.

Advice

1 pt Draw in Stoke v Liverpool (23/10 Coral)

1 pt No goalscorer in Stoke v Liverpool (8/1 general)
