Q8 Oils Juvenile Hurdle 2012

1.20 Leopardstown
Q8 Oils Juvenile Hurdle (grade 2) (Class 1)  (3YO only)
Winner €27,625
Advice: 1 pt Blood Cotil (5/4 Paddy Power)*

Owner detailsOur Conor: Smart flat horse (rated 84) who has been impressive over hurdles with two easy wins so far, notably when showing impressive turn of foot in Grade 3 event at Fairyhouse on Hattons’s Grace weekend; Looks to have more to give still and form horse to beat here even under 3lbs penalty.

Owner detailsBlood Cotil: Showed promise in France (two starts on flat and two over jumps) despite very headstrong tendencies, which were restrained in Ireland before his deeply impressive maiden hurdle win; That only an ordinary event but looked like a class act and can go well here.

Owner detailsCrouching Harty: Improved since starting over hurdles, gaining first win at fifth attempt in Clonmel maiden hurdle on heavy, but easily thrashed by Our Conor the time before that and others make far more appeal.

Owner detailsFisher: Rated 67 in England on flat and now two from three over hurdles so far this season, but beat very poor opposition on both those occasions and one conqueror (McVicar) was well beaten at Kempton; Much more needed.

Owner detailsSouth South West: Good attitude when strong in the finish last time out (second hurdles win) and lot of ground to make up on Our Conor (12 lengths) from Fairyhouse meeting; Others make more appeal.

Owner detailsStocktons Wing: Used hurdling debut as springboard to comfortable win on second start but outclassed by Our Conor in their meeting at Fairyhouse last time to an extent which suggests that form won’t be reversed on 3lbs better terms.

Owner detailsMoney Spider: Made steady headway despite consistently poor jumping at Thurles and experience used from that probably allowed her to win poor Punchestown contest so easily last time; This much harder and form been let dow  so others make more appeal.

Owner detailsOne Fine Day: Best of these on flat ratings (rated 90) when she won twice from eight starts but regressed soon after second of those wins and this a tough debut to make over hurdles.

VERDICT: A very interesting matchup (according to betting at least) between Our Conor and BLOOD COTIL, who gets the vote receiving 3lbs from what’s meant to be his main rival upon the basis of his impressive debut win in Ireland.

*Our Conor is now a non - runner
