Betfred Treble Odds On Lucky 15's Chase (Listed) (Class
1) (4YO plus)
Winner £17,085
Advice: 3 pts win Quito De La Roque (evs Sportingbet, Blue
Sq, 4/5 general)
Quito De La Roque: The class act of this field, winning four
from five novice starts including Grade 2 over this C&D and Grade 1 at
Punchestown Festival; Lucky to pick up second Grade 1 on comeback when
overhauling exhausted Sizing Europe on his preferred heavy ground but Lexus
Chase third and third in this year’s renewal stands out well in this field.
Across The Bay: Comes here in the form of his life, having
won last two chase starts (Kelso handicap and Graduation Chase at Carlisle)
switched from hurdling by wide margin distances, both on heavy ground; Should
go close here.
Calgary Bay: Very much unproven on anything but good to soft
but peak form (landed big handicaps at Cheltenham and Doncaster last term)
gives him a major chance here; That said ground and unknown and didn’t seem in
love with the soft ground when pulled up (never travelled) in Paddy Power Gold
Cup on return.
Wayward Prince: Unable to progress in any way on terrific
first season campaign (was behind Quito De La Roque here over C&D) last
year barring his fourth place in the Rowyland Meyrick; No shame in being left
for dead by Silviniaco Conti
VERDICT: A small but useful field of which QUITO DE LA ROQUE
is the class act by some way based on his novice chasing campaign but also his
three efforts in open company, and with the ground to suit, he can give weight
and a beating to Across The Bay, Calagary Bay, and Wayward Prince.
