International Friendly Betting - 10th August 2011

Wales (11/5) v Australia (7/5)

Wales couldn’t be judged for taking encouragement from their 2-0 win over Northern Ireland but Australia are unbeaten in ten games with eight clean sheets from a possible ten in 2011, during which they have conceded just three times.

Advice: 1 pt Australia (7/5 VC Bet)

Italy (23/10) v Spain (11/8)

Since a pair of heavy losses last year Spain have won all their games and are well worth a poke to beat Italy. Cesare Prandelli has a strong team out but it might not match the class of the world’s best side, who by all accounts are pretty up for it.

Advice: 2 pts Spain (11/8 general)

France (5/6) v Chile (4) (8PM)

France head into this international friendly on the back of a 10-game unbeaten streak but are missing out on Franck Ribery, Philippe Mexes, Yoann Gourcuff, Mathieu Valbuena  & Patrice Evra. Chile retain he majority of the side that were knocked out in July's Copa America quarter-finals by surprise packages Venezuela, and with the likes of Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez and Juventus' Arturo Vidal, present a big test for Laurent Blanc’s side.

Advice: 1 pt Chile + 1 (evs Paddy Power)

Germany (7/5) v Brazil (11/5)

Germany have been amongst the world’s elite for sometime and can beat a lacklustre looking Brazil side who are struggling for results having suffered  bitterly disappointing Copa America quarter-final exit. Germany have won all seven of their Euro 2012 qualifiers, and eight of their 12 matches since the 2010 World Cup, and look like a solid proposition at home while Mano Menezes is yet to hold a training session ahead of the game.

Advice: 2 pts Germany (7/5 Stan James)

Northern Ireland (2/9) v Faroes (22)

The memory of Northern Ireland’s poor draw against the Faroes is still fresh in the memory and I’m in no rush to get behind them in any form with a plethora of strikers missing and a tight game maybe on the cards. Nigel Worthington won’t be counting any chickens yet and 3 points will do for him with harder games on the cards.

Advice: 1 pt Under 2.5 goals (5/4 Stan James)

Ireland (15/8) v Croatia (7/4)

You couldn’t fail to be impressed with the way that Ireland beat Italy and there’s no account that they’ll give Croatia a stiff test at Croke Park. That said it looks like the visitors – who have only lost two of their last 20 away internationals in all competitions – are likely to prove tough nuts to crack too.  Evens on both sides to score is tempting but it might be that the value lies with the visitors who have brought over Eduardo, Darjo Srna, Danijel Pranjic, and Verdean Corulka

Advice: 1 pt Croatia (7/4 VC Bet)

Scotland (21/10) v Denmark (6/4)

Scotland aren’t the pushovers that many think they are, especially at home where they nearly took points off Spain, but Denmark are a useful side who are looking for the hat – trick here and it’s not hard to see them coming away from Hampden Park with a win.  Both teams to score is a tempting 10/11 with Coral’s and Hills but Scotland have conceded first in their last three internationals and may do so again.

Advice: 1 pt Denmark to score first (evs Betfred)
