Newmarket Craven Meeting - Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy

3.00 Newmarket
£250,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy (Class 2)  (3YO only)
Winner £139,449

Pick: Together (win)

Auld Burns: Comfortably on top when beating Acomb Stakes winner Waiter's Dream in June, form since not quite as good; That said, still has form claims and longer trip should prove useful; Possibly held up.

Chef: Showed a good attitude, and stayed on very well when landing maiden auction on good to soft; Could be useful horse but has a lot to do to be making an impact here.

Janood: No built on bright start which included taking listed win, unable to make impact in National Stakes and strong sales race; Poor start this year in the UAE and has a lot of ground to make up.

Madawi: fourth in big sales race here (behind several of these in another) on second start and also in Group 3 Horris Hill on final outing; Will need to improve a lot for headgear and has a lot of ground to make up.

Measuring Time: Improved on 7f Salisbury maiden when winning  decent 4-runnerevent at Newbury, finding plenty to beat Amwell Pinot by ½ length; Most important form claim may be the fact he’s already proved he gets this trip; Plenty of good form and has a decent chance.

Nambian: Shaped as if this trip would suit when third in a 1m Nursery at Doncaster (good); This is much harder.

Questioning: Got up late to justify good support on debut in maiden (AW; 1m) and would have been much closer in one of strongest sales races run last season had he been given a clear passage; Has a big chance here.

Rojo Boy: Blinkers seems to have focused him on last three starts, twice on Polytrack; Will likely find this too tough.

Sadler’s Risk: Was hugely on top all the way when making all under top weight in handicap on reappearance; Disappointed when in sales race last year and while he has more to come, others preferred.

State Opera: Made most of the running before fading badly late on when co – fav for big sales race, having made such a big impression winning maiden at Hamilton; Surely better than that.

The Bells O Peower: Placed effort at Doncaster twelve days ago, but that form is well short of what is required this time.

Date With Destiny: Came into racing with big reputation, being the only offspring of George Washington and fetching 320,000Gns at yearling sales; Justified hype with smooth success in Newbury maiden; Not up to group company but maybe better than that (ground issues) and each/way chance.

Lucky Legs: Has a lot of ground to make up to be winning this.

Together: One of most consistent fillies of last year, following Moyglare fourth with Fillies Mile second; Would have won sales race here but for hanging and unable to cope with tight track in Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf; Big chance here.

VERDICT: Given that this is TOGETHER’S seasonal reappearance and she lost a similar contest by hanging right late on here, both Measuring Time and Questioning are suggested as each/way alternatives, but the Ballydoyle horses have been fast out of the gate this season and a step up in trip should help.
