Today’s handicap action is going to be based around the
Scoop 6 – for those who are still in it, and at the time of writing they’re
96,000 strong (amazingly, given the 20/1 shot winning the first at Newmarket).
However for those of us already out – me basically! – there’s a lot of betting
on offer today without a £10,000,000 prize fund.
In the London Gold Cup, a race that seems to produce nothing
but quality winners, the choice between several unexposed horses is a difficult
one but it is hard to ignore the massive walloping – 11lbs -the handicapper has
dished out to Windshear following a deeply impressive win at Sandown, which leaves
that day’s runner up Collaboration 10lbs better off today even before the 3lbs
claim of Oisin Murphy – arguably the best on the circuit - is taken into
account, which leaves him 13lbs better off for just a four and a half length
beating. While Cannock Chase and Satellite must be respected after extremely
impressive maiden wins, and so too much Extra Noble after a good reappearance,
it may be worth taking a chance on the strength of the Sandown form even on
this much better ground.
Advice
1 pt each/way Collaboration, 3.15 Newbury, (8/1 general)
