victorchandler.com Summit Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 2) (Class
1) (3YO only)
Winner £14,432
Advice: 1 pt win Ranjaan (5/4 Boylesports, Hills)
Bradbury: Got up to win on debut having made hard work of
things from a long way out at Aintree; Attitude that day can’t be faulted but
exposed soon after when seventh at Cheltenham.
Kie: Impressive winner on debut for Frank Sheridan at Kelso
(2m) and bettered that form when third in Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle; Too easy
for him at Musselbrugh last time out and should go well here.
Royal Bonsai: Two from three over hurdles, doing the job
nicely after promising debut (edged out by a nose); This seems a bit tougher
but can be on the scene nevertheless.
Crafty Roberto: Last of 4 in Listed event at Italy after
three successive runner up efforts on All Weather; Has to prove stamina for
this and been off for 251 days, so faces tall task here.
Eagle Rock: Rated 80 on flat after some fair efforts and
good introduction to hurdling last time out, when a well beaten second behind
two time winner and Listed second at Sedgefield; That form gives him chance
with improvement, although he will need to find it.
Ranjaan: Decent in France, twice a winner in provinces (that
form boosted as winner went onto win Listed race next time out); Disappointed
some on hurdle debut when sent off well backed favourite but ran like a horse
who was in need of the run (from a physical perspective too) and should go much
better here.
School For Scandal: Responded gamely to pressure on hurdles
debut, having been a good performer for Mark Johnston on the flat; Can go well
here if improving for that.
VERDICT: Despite the presence of some good prospects, this
is weak for a Grade 2 and it might be worth taking the hint that Paul Nicholls
runs RANJAAN here following what some could have seen as a tame debut. Kie is clearly
next best.
