2.30 Sandown
Sportingbet Future Stars Chase (Listed Intermediate Race)
(Class 1) (4YO plus)
Winner £10,251
Advice: 3 pts win Bostons Angel (7/4 Boylesports)
Bostons Angel: Improved out of all recognition to land three
Grade 1’s in his novice season, ending with a hard fought win in the RSA Chase
at the festival; Form of that race hasn’t worked out so well since but still
the best form here and sure to go well with promising reappearance (not out of
the reckoning when falling in the Down Royal Champion Chase) behind him.
Quinz: Romped home in pair of novice chases at Exeter before
finding things too good at Cheltenham, but then bouncing back to win the Racing
Post Chase in the style of a good horse; Pulled up twice since but a sick horse
at Aintree and needs one more chance following dismal run at Ascot in October;
Risky but easily good enough.
Royal Charm: Looked to have a serious future over fences
when winning twice at Exeter over just further of 2 miles but disappointed at
Aintree in April, when looking as if he’d had his stamina stretched (made a big
mistake before the cross fence); Retains potential but trip asks a new question
of him.
Golan Way: Ended last season with an excellent third in
Grade 2 at Aintree Festival, but since refused at Wincanton and well held in
handicap hurdle at Cheltenham; Small field should suit but others preffered.
Benbane Head: Ran two solid races in good company since easy
handicap wins, coming a well beaten third in the Bager Ales Trophy; Couple
could prove too good for him.
VERDICT: The form of the RSA Chase hasn’t worked out as well
as some would like but in this context it still gives BOSTONS ANGEL a rock solid form chance even with a 3lbs
penalty. Jessie Harrington’s charge was going well enough when falling five out
in the Down Royal Champion Chase and he should take the beating here, with
Royal Charm and Quinz having questions to answer.
