12.10 Cheltenham
JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial (Juvenile Hurdle) (Class 2) (3YO only)
Winner £10,010
Hinterland: Deeply impressive on one French jumps start when
running away with Auteil Listed hurdle and good UK start when winning Triumph
Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham; Clear cut winner that day and should be very tough
to beat here.
Tango De Juilley: Outpaced and readily left behind on
hurdling debut but clearly better for having the experience behind him when
winning well on his next start, although beating only two rivals; Runner up
beaten on both UK starts so form needs improving on.
Baby Mix: Seemed to tire (1m7f, on ground said to be very
soft) when fifth on one and only hurdles start; Since won three times on the
flat (all in provinces) and something to prove here.
Canna: 79 rated on the flat and has run to largely the same
level over hurdles, improving a good deal on his hurdling debut when second (albeit
well held) behind Wrekin Rock at Gorwan latest.
Highly Efficent: Very useful on the flat, winning maiden
before filling second and third in very good flat handicaps (ended up being
rated a 90); Joins high profile jumps yard and should go well if ready.
Scogilo: Poor on flat and hard to see him being better over
hurdles since he didn’t show much of an attitude for staying tests.
Hope Point: Improved for first experience over hurdles when
coming out a clear cut winner of juvenile hurdle at Huntingdon; Well beaten
under penalty at Fakenham latest though.
Jackies Solitare: Winner over hurdles and that form worked
out well, but flopped when third on next start since and then well behind
Hinterland here; Should be held again.
VERDICT: This should be all about HINTERLAND, who has had
the form of his debut UK win boosted twice since. He should be able to give 7lbs
and a beating to Highly Efficient, a very smart flat recruit for the Twiston
Davies team, and also the Calirefontaine hurdle winner Tango De Juilley.
