BONUS POST - Haldon Gold Cup Day

Novices’ Hurdle (2m, 2.05) – DARE ME looked like a top notch hurdling prospect when second at Aintree last year and based on a literal production of his hurdling debut, a penalty won’t stop him.

Haldon Gold Cup (2.35) – Thico Polos is very well weighted, jumps nicely, has been picked by Ruby Walsh and will be fit, so it’s not hard to see why he’d be popular, but if SOMERSBY has any real ambitions of going to the top this year (any trip) he’ll win this off only 10-7. Cornas took second in this last year having fallen on his previous start but arrives at the top of his game this time and should figure prominently. I’msingingtheblues is weighted to go well and was travelling best of anything in the Old Roan last time.

Novices’ Chase (3.05) – Pihidippides makes a lot of appeal, shaping like a chaser while only just falling short of the best novice hurdles, but ROCK NOIR was even better over hurdles (won a Grade 1 at Auteuil) and should improve for a poor chasing debut last month. Qqzak is going to make a decent chaser at a high level but he’ll need the run badly.
