4.25 Ascot
Ironspine Charity Challenge 'national Hunt' Novices' Hurdle
(Class 2) (4YO plus)
Winner £10,010
Advice: 1 pt win River Maigue (5/4 general)
River Maigue: Impressed many with finish towards the end of
Grade 2 on hurdling debut and won 2m novice over Christmas in style at Kempton,
leaving him no bigger than 10/1 for Supreme at Festival; Giving plenty of
weight to rivals but class act and should take the beating in what’s effectively
a match with 4yo rival.
Bullet Street: Impressed when striding out nicely to win Limerick
Maiden hurdle in November but not seen since and top two achieved far more.
Far West: Established himself as leading Triumph hope with
three wins from three British hurdles starts, all on soft/heavy (twice at
Cheltenham) and all in some style; Gets 9lbs from River Maigue which many see
swining it but should be a close match which will tell us plenty.
VERDICT: In facing eachother, RIVER MAIGUE and Far West are
facing their acid tests in terms of Cheltenham credentials and the older horse
can come out on top, although defeat would be no shame giving 9lbs to such a
progressive rival.
