1) (Class 1) (3YO only)
Winner £19,932
Arty Campbell: Improving on flat before he switched to jumps
but that form of very low quality and ran out before third at Ffos Las.
Kentucky Hyden: Useful French form at Auteil, especially
when fourth in Listed hurdle on last French start; 1/3 on UK debut and strolled
home in fine style there; solid effort when second in tougher race at
Cheltenham latest (form boosted at Kempton yesterday) and leading chance here.
Le Rocher: Going well when falling on debut and deeply
impressive when winning at Dieppe and Auteil the next twice; Disappointing in
Grade 1 Prix Cambaceres at Auteuil when he faded badly after making most of the
running; Likely that he’s better than that and interesting here.
Solar Impulse: Didn’t cut too much ice for Francois Cottin
but one heavy ground run was a wide margin win at Auteil in June after which he
moved to Nicholls yard; Should revel in the ground here and obvious chance.
Violet Dancer: Took step forward with every run on flat,
upped in distance on each of three occasions; Two from two over hurdles,
romping home at Plumpton on debut before landing stronger event latest at
Sandown although form of that been let down since; Not taken lightly.
VERDICT: A tricky race set to be dominated by four horses
who all have their own degrees of promise. Kentucky Hyden should take the
beating, Solar Impulse is sure to enjoy these conditions and Violet Dancer has
to be respected but LE ROCHER looked at least as good on his two French wins
and can go well for Nick Williams, assuming he’s better than his latest run at
Auteil suggests.
