1.10 Fairyhouse
Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase (grade 1) (Class
1) (4YO plus)
Winner €48,750
Advice: 1 pt win Art of Logistics (6/1 Ladbrokes)
Art of Logistics: Looked to be a decent hurdler on a couple
of occasions, particularly when beating Midnight Oil over C&D over the
smaller obstacles, and much improved over fences, a commanding and easy winner
of the Buck House Novice Chase latest when front running suited him a lot more
than tracking pace; Notable how comfortable he’s looked on good ground so far
this season given opponents preference for deep surface; Can go well.
Carlingford Lough: One win chasing but that one when landing
a huge Galway plate Gamble and then better when second off topweight in Kerry
National latest; Might still be going forward but at the same time vulnerable
to potential improvements and this a completely different change in ground.
Clar Na Mionn: Likeable sort who’s 131 rating seems
perfectly apt based on two runners up finishes in graded chases the last twice
and little chance of reversing form with Sizing Rio from Cork latest.
Don Cossack: Shown monster potential both on the level
(NHF), over hurdles when a dominant winner on seasonal debut and again over
fences when wide margin winner on the bridle at Gowran; Accusations of being
soft when beaten favourite in Florida Pearl latest but that defeat came at the
hands of a Grade 1 winner and the best form here; Should go well.
Road To Riches: Went unbeaten in three rules starts since
impressive PTP win last may, comfortably taking 3m Grade 3 at Punchestown
despite making mess of last, but then a blowout at both spring festivals (only
try on decent ground at Aintree); Chasing debut put him right back on track and
potentially very smart.
Sizing Rio: Chaser in transition all of last year, beating
future Country hurdle winner in early season Grade 3 before respectable efforts
when finding 2m too short for him; Stepped upto today’s trip over fences, has
won first pair of chasing debuts impressively and worthy of respect for all
that quick ground a potential spanner in the works.
VERDICT: A renewal small on numbers but big on potential.
Sizing Rio, Road To Riches, and Don Cossack look to have big futures over
fences but it remains to be seen if they’re as comfortable on this quicker
ground as ART OF LOGISTICS, who has looked vastly improved for a decent surface
and the switch to front running last time. He has a lot of improving to do but
is capable of being in the shakeup and looks to be the value in the race.
