Cheetahs (2/9) v
Lions (9/2)
The Cheetahs weren’t as impressive as they’d have liked last
year but they should start this season with a pretty resounding success against
the Lions, who snuck past the Kings in a playoffs to last season but might be
weaker opposition for them this time around. The home side should cover a
handicap of 12 infront of their own fans, having beaten sides at the level of
the beat the Rebels, Kings, Reds and Blues and also having the returning Johan
Goosen at 10 to spearhead an experienced side facing a side with 6 Super Rugby
debutants.
Advice: 2 pts Cheetahs -12 (10/11 general)
Sharks (1/3) v Bulls
(5/2)
The Bulls did the doubt over the Sharks last season but the
fortunes might be reversed with a Bulls side having suffered a mass injury exodus
over the summer including Morne Steyn amongst others and Jake White’s new
challenge can get off to a perfect start. The Bulls have won 6 of the last 8 in
Durban but will face a serious challenge against a frontrow that could represent
South Africa if needs be and with a warmup game behind them they can take advantage
of some disruption in the Bulls camp with so many changed.
Advice: 1 pt Sharks -7 (10/11 general)
