2.05 Warwick
OLBG.com Mares' Hurdle (Listed) (Class 1) (4YO plus)
Winner £12,529 - 4 run
Advice: 2.5 pts Glen’s Melody (6/5 Stan James)
Glen’s Melody: Uber consistent mare who was in shadow of
Annie Power before taking weak grade 1 at the end of last season; Disappointing
in Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham but dropped in class and much more comfortable
when tough at the finish of Listed event here when beating Mischievous Milly
last time; Can confirm the form.
L’Unique: Looked to have a big future when winning Aintree
Grade 1 on the last juvenile start but below that form in two runs this season
before break; Reportedly missed work last week, which is worrying, but if back
to something like her best, can play a hand here.
Mischevious Mille: Took on heavy ground listed event at
Taunton and might have been a tad better when close second to Glen’s Melody for
all that she was fairly beaten and reposes upon the same terms today, although
the extra 2 furlongs should be helpful for her cause.
Confirmed improvement from Huntingdon handicap win and then
third behind Glen’s Melody and Mischievous Millie, but now on 3lbs worse terms
with the front two and more needed to change that form.
VERDICT: GLEN’S MELODY has been forgotten by many with Annie
Power’s rise to glory but she’s a consistent, hardy mare and she has a fine
chance of beating Mischievous Millie and Hidden Identity again, and comes here
with her wellbeing confirmed, while L’Unique. Classy as she is, has something
to prove.
