Racing Today - 14 August

Lingfield

6.30 – Latin Lashes travelled strongly on her Windsor debut for a long way and may well have won had her saddle stayed still but SHARNBERRY (win) was well backed on her debut in a competitive maiden at Glorious Goodwood and the booking of Kieren Fallon, coupled with the form boost that the race has received courtesy of Brevity has swung my vote.

Doncaster

2.50 – A very good looking maiden with any number of newcomers taking the eye, not least the John Gosden pair Midnight Caller and Palitana, and Godolphin's Alareen, but the latter's BLUE BUNTING (win) hold take all the beating here if improving from her debut.

4.00 Might be worth chancing BEAUCHAMP XERZES (each/way) on the most realistic assignment he’s faced for a while now he’s down in class and trip seeing as the blinkers may improve him, he had no chance with the draw last time, and he’s been outclassed on 2 other occasions. A mark of 100 is also fair.

Newmarket (July)
2.45 – ZOWINGTON (each/way) is put forward as the suggestion given that he’s a stone lower than when second in this last year and has won on soft ground twice.

Ripon

2.55 - This should be between Mayson and CHILWORTH LAD, (win), with the latter getting the vote as he may have achieved more when fourth in the Superlative and Railway Stakes, while the Molecomb could have its form holes. In receipt of 5lbs, Malgoof has to be rated a threat.

Deauville

1.35 An excellent renewal of the Prix De Pomone. While Britain has an excellent representation in Coronation Cup third High Heeled, the hat-trick seeker Eastern Aria and the progressive Polly's Mark, DARYAKANA (win/nap) has to have an excellent chance with no penalty for her win in the Hong Kong Vase last time in a bid regain the winning thread after three defeats so far this term in the Prix de Pomone. Fourth in the King George last time out, she was unbeaten in five starts last term and does not carry a penalty here for her Group 1 victory in the Hong Kong Vase. She was well in front of High Heeled when third to Plumania in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and rates an excellent bet at 9/4.
