Coolmore Hurricane Run Stakes 2010

7.10 Tipperary
Coolmore Hurricane Run Stakes (Listed) (Class 1) (2YO plus)
Winner €32,500

Pick: Jackaroo

Brittany: Takingly bred sort who was always going to be better for the step up to a mile when winning last time out on second start (Montjeu and out of 10.5f winner from family of Irish/Yorkshire Oaks winner Pure Grain); With that in mind, drop back to 7f may not be ideal but could step up again and well worth try at this level.

Jackroo: Looked a smart prospect when making a winning debut in strong maiden (form upheld well since) so very disappointing when well beaten in Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot last time; No excuses have been given since but this much weaker looking race and well worth another chance.

Snow Watch: Improved a lot from debut to second run, keeping on well when drawing away with Gatamala (long way clear of useful looking field); Well worth try at listed level and should run well.

Triple Eight: Improved from debut to make all in maiden at Gowran in May before seeing unsuited by return to 6f in Listed contest at Cork last time; Although she can be forgiven that run, was put in her place in Tryos Stakes last week and has it to prove now.

Whipless: Entitled to improve on the form of his debut fourth, which is working out quite well with Triple Eight winning (will need to improve way past her to win) and fast finishing Windsor Castle second Petronius Maximums though this is a much stiffer test.

Miss Fairbanks: Well bred filly (half-sister to winner in USA by Street Cry) but will need to be something out of the ordinary even though yard’s debutants usually run well first time up.

VERDICT: This looks much easier than the Chesham Stakes and given how impressive JACKAROO was on debut he’s well worth another chance here. Snow Watch looks the biggest danger, while Brittany was impressive in winning last time out.
