With the jumps beginning to rev up a gear not many will be interested
in conditions races on the flat but John Gosden’s Colombian (3.00, Below) looks just
too good to miss at Leicester.
These kind of races so often see the defeat of the best
horse due to a long season, the condtion of the race, the ground, or just
another unexposed horse but none of those factors look to be at work tomorrow
(he has a win on good to firm ground).
There’s a risk at 5/6 but you’re taking that about a horse
who has been fourth in the French Derby, Prix Niel and Prix Guillaume D’Ornano
(behind Galikova and Golden Lilac for better measure) and on that form, none of
his rivals should match him. Sir Henry Cecil’s Late Telegraph is interesting and
ought to love the extra distance after his winning debut, and Godolphin’s only
feasiable contender is Sadeek’s Song, who shouldn’t be able to beat the
selection on form despite having had only three starts, so Princess Haya’s colt
gets a confident pick.
The same confidence is almost carried with George Margason’s
Enchanted Dream at Southwell, who should be a decent price because h jockey
bookings suggest Take Cover is George Margarson's first string.
The promising debut of Enchanted Dream – when racing well
back early on at Folkestone over 6 furlongs before making fairly decent ground
into fourth late on – swings the vote in her favour though, as she’s sure to
improve for that despite a long absence since, and if ridden more prominently
she should relish the extra distance.
Advice
3 pts win Colombian, 3.00 Leicester (5/6 VC Bet)
1 pt win Enchanted Dream, 3.50 Southwell
