Chester May Meeting - Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes

1.45 Chester
Manor House Stables Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes (Class 2)  (2YO only)
Winner £9,970

Pick: Lily’s Angel (win)

He’s So Cool: Shaped as in need of the experience badly when a well beaten third behind Redair on debut, but came on massively when game winner over that rival next time out; Can do well here but needs to step forward to confirm form with Redair off worse terms.

Jawkwing: Infront and pushed from the word go when making a winning debut at Kempton (urged along from 1 furlong out but still found more); Should be capable of finding more although he needs to improve and stable seemingly have better choices.

Choice Of Remark: Has shown smart speed from the front on all his three starts, but unable to sustain it on each occasion (hung badly two starts ago, which may suggest he has an attitude problem); Should make a bold bid and Kieren Fallon being on board will surely help, but likely to get competition for lead.

Marford Missile: Made all on successful debut at Newcastle (two horses to come out of that race have since won), but unable to keep with useful pair Lily’s Angel and Stonefield Flyer (winner since) at same track last time, hanging when asked for effort; Unlikely to reverse form with former from poor draw.

Lily’s Angel: Unbeaten, having got better of more experienced stable mate One Kool Dude at Beverley, and bettered that when showing game attitude to defeat two previous winners (second has won by 6 lengths since, third reopposes); Well drawn and should go close here.

Redair: Impressive when winning despite drifting across the track on his debut at Kempton, so disappointing that he was unable to confirm that form (admittedly on 4lbs worse terms); Now weights at in his favour and track should suit, so will go close again.

Beau Mistral: Not beaten all that far into fifth when obviously badly in need of the experience in Broclkesby (travelled well, short of room) but better could have been expected at Ripon and worst draw of all no help.

Mousie: Improved from first two starts on AW when clear cut winner of Yarmouth maiden auction latest, but that form even worse than his placed efforts and draw hinders chances as well.

Van Go Go: Showed early promise when bumping into well owned sort on debut (that horse also had advantage of 5lbs claimer) but has made up quickly since, winning maiden at Redcar 11 days later; Followed up in a Warwick seller latest but this too tough from wide draw.

VERDICT: The Brocklesby form is well represented so big runs should be coming from Redair and He’s So Cool, but LILY’S ANGEL may prove the one to beat following a game win last time.
