4.20 Curragh
High Chaparral European Breeders Fund Mooresbridge Stakes
(Group 3) (Class 1) (4YO plus)
Winner €47,125
So You Think: Australian sensation during 2009 and 2010, who
has been transferred to the all-conquering Ballydoyle stable for the 2011
season; won no less than five Group 1's down under, including the ultra-valuable
Cox Plate (twice); All of his top-level victories were at either 1m1f or 1m2f,
so remarkable effort to finish third in the Melbourne Cup over two miles, giving
weight away to all bar one of his rivals as a mere three year-old; Hugely
exciting prospect for coming season.
Bob Le Beau: Inconsistent but fairly talented in his own
right last season, landing two wins in valuable handicaps (beaten favourite for
listed race at end of campaign); Likely to need this coming off a break.
Cashelgar: Progressive as three year old, coming close
second to subsequent Grade 1 winner Debussy in France (previously unlucky in running
when hampered at Royal Ascot); Hasn’t run to his form since and major question marks
over wellbeing.
Windsor Palace: Likely pacemaker for the main Ballydoyle
hope So You Think.
Mid Mon Lady: Well beaten behind Lolly For Dolly on her
seasonal debut & doesn’t have the form to be winning this based on her runs
last year.
Termagant: Unbeaten as a two year old, winning the Moyglare
in clear cut style over good field (form worked out in 2010) & respectable
race on only occasion seen as a three year old when ninth in Irish 1,000
Guineas (again, form working out); Suffered for lack of race – fitness when
coming back behind Lolly For Dolly in March latest but will do better with that
under her belt today.
VERDICT: The first chance to see the Australian superstar SO
YOU THINK in Europe this year, and hopefully Ballydoyle can get as much, if not
more, out of him than with previous Group 1 winners Hardasun and
Starpangledbanner. Termagant may give him most to think about.
