Racing -Tuesday the 13th April 2010

Not much great racing on until the Craven meet, which is on Wednesday and the Cheltenham April meeting, which starts on Wednesday. Going to go through the cards for tomorrow to see if I can find any possible value, and I may well update the blog again with another post.

Exeter

2.40
Whenever has to give away 7lbs here and Penlyan Star needs to brush up on his jumping, which gives the vote to EXPRESS LEADER, who  might not have been fully recovered from his reappearance exertions when disappointing last time and is worth another chance here.

Pick: Express Leader

3.10
A proper marathon chase here and two stand out. Based on the current form of the horses, TRIGGER THE LIGHT will take some stopping if he can build on last month's highly creditable second at Warwick, where he looked like he needed further. He's also the least exposed at a marathon trip. BOOMERANG is on as low a mark as you can really get and might be worth an e/w bet based on the odds.

3.40

Should be DR HART'S race but maybe he's not one to take a gamble on.

4.10

A race that won't take much winning at all, and based on that, KING AR ARDAIH is the pick, although he will have to transfer his winning ability over hurdles to fences.

4.40
If Gentle George runs to his form last month at the festival, he will win, and at 10/11 forecast I've seen worse odds on shots.

Pick: Gentle George

5.10 DUNRAVEN STORM also has to give away weight but the bumper he won has produced lots of winners (not least Lush Life, who beat Menorah before he won the Supreme ) and his midfield finish at Cheltenham was a good effort, and he should be better for it.

Pick: Dunraven Storm

5.40

MIGHT PRAYER'S form is standout, having not been beaten far by Oscar Whisky on debut at Newbury in November, then fourth behind another subsequent winner there a month later.

Pick: Midnight Prayer:

VERDICT: A tricky card where the favourites get stronger as the meeting goes on. The outstanding bets are yet to be seen as as the opening prices come up, that would be the way to go. At the moment the biggest chances would be the last three, all at prohibitive odds.

  1. Well to say there's not much on, you certainly managed to find plenty to keep an eye on ;)

  2. Thanks =D Do my best but I'll have much more for the Craven, I'll be keeping an eye on your page, as you have found some big priced winners.

That was the first comment I've got.

  3. Well I just updated my page with my one tip for Exeter and I see that it conflicts with your selection of Express Leader. That horse is the best fit for the profile - I just have found Paul Nicholls horses tend to let me down (the singular exception was Binocular which I successfully tipped at Cheltenham) - his horses have let me down on several occasions.
