2.10 Kempton
williamhill.com Chase (Listed) (Class 1) (5YO plus)
Winner £17,085
Advice: 2 pts win Captain Chris (15/8 general)
Captain Chris: Very high class chaser who has had his
troubles in the past, but still good enough to run Long Run to final strides in
King George, and return behind Riverside Theatre when giving 10lbs a fine
comeback indeed; Should take the beating.
Twinlight: Fast improving Irish second season chaser who is
one of few raiders to come today; Been on the fringe of Grade 1 company with
his last two wins on the ratings and has to be given serious respect here for
top team although beaten at all starts further than 2m5f and still inferior on
form to Captain Chris.
Champion Court: Unseated before King George got going but
had previously been back to his best with a game second in Peterbough Chase
(disappointed in Paddy Power Chase); Respected on that sound effort and can
play part but 4lbs worse off with Captain Chris.
Ghizao: Looked a class prospect in early days of novice chasing
but just not been the same since Arkle disappointment and well beaten behind
couple of these on return at Huntingdon.
Tataniano: Huge amount to find based on latest long distance
fourth and not sure of his stamina.
Pepite Rose: In fine form, as evidenced by her wide margin
win 2m Wetherby handicap in very soft ground when back from summer break; More
needed still despite getting weight all round and others make more appeal.
VERDICT: The decision of Willie Mullins to send over Twinlight
must be taken seriously but CAPTAIN CHRIS still maintains his ability judged on
his comeback and he can reverse form with Champion Court to take another win at
a course he seems to love.
