Prix De Royallieu 2010 - Arc Weekend 2010

3.15 Longchamp
Nyse Euronext Prix De Royallieu (fillies' Group 2) (3YO plus)
Winner €83,044

Pick: Announce (win)

Penitiure Rare: Second in this race last year and has been as good as ever this season, holding on gamely to win the Prix de Pomone in testing conditions at Deauville; Lucky to win that day as High Heeled was closing hard at death (should have won); Confirmed form when one place and a quarter of a length ahead of High Heeled, but massive penalty will be hard to carry.

High Heeled: Would be a major player on the pick of her efforts, and it must be remembered that she was fourth in the Oaks here last year, a good fifth in the Nassau Stakes, and good third in the Pride Stakes and a wide margin winner of the St Simon Stakes; Has lost that consistency this season though, with good efforts in the Coronation Cup and Prix De Pomone being followed up with disappointing efforts, notably both in France; Needs more than last time but Peslier is good booking.

Superstition: Although inconsistent, she would have minor claims if repeating the level of her best performance, when caught close home in a Chantilly Group 3 back in early May; Hasn’t run a whole lot better since, which is none too encouraging.

La Boum: Tackles this instead of another crack at the big one itself (very good 7th behind Sea The Stars )and was beaten only a length into third in the Grand Prix de Deauville last time; If running to her best form, will be really hard to beat but hasn’t won for a long time.

Announce: Quickly progressive filly who made it three wins from three starts with a narrow success over Shamanova at Deauville last time in the Prix Minerve; Worth value for more than winning margin and another step forward may be coming.

Shamanova: Would have won with a true pace and was still a little immature when second in a good renewal of the Prix Malleret, but rather disappointing even given how close she came to Announce; Needs a bit more in tougher race.

Maria Royal: Impressive in soft ground at Vichy but is developing a inconsistent profile and was well beating 3 rivals last time, so more needed.

Sarah Lynx: Ran well above herself in coming fifth to Midday, Plumanai and Sarafina in the Vermille, so interesting what she can do here; If last race is taken on merit then she will be difficult to beat but conditions are different today.

VERDICT: La Boum and Sarah Lynx will run well if givng their best efforts, while the same applies to High Heeled, but ANNOUNCE continued on her upward curve when beating Shamanova, Sarah Lynx and Maria Royal in the Prix Minerve and is an exciting horse who’s won on the ground today before.
