Premiership Saturday

Just something I wanted to have a play with here. I’ve noted how easy it is to read the likes of Soccerbase and I wanted some thoughts on a Saturday coupon format, so all thoughts please and before anyone’s quipping copycat, some of these matches aren’t covered by Soccerbase so….shhhh J - More to be added soon, and the bets aren't seen as good things - I've concentrated much more on the Cricket.

Premiership (All times are 3PM unless stated)

Birmingham (11/8) v West Brom (12/5) – (12:45, SS1)

Birmingham rarely get beaten at home and have won four of their last 6; They should be too strong for a West Brom defence which has let in 53 goals this season and they have got a range of attacking options to use going forward.

Advice: 1 pt Birmingham (11/8 Totesport)

Bolton (13/10) v Aston Villa (12/5)

Since they lost undeservedly to a last minute goal at Spurs, Bolton have been unbeaten and had much the better of the play against Newcastle last weekend. Villa will come here focusing on their 4-1 thrashing of Blackburn (they did make eight changes for their FA Cup tie) but they were wiped aside by Manchester City and will find life tough at the Reebok.

Advice: 2 pts Bolton (13/10 Boylesports)

Fulham (3/4) v Blackburn (9/2)

Fulham have been given a decent opportunity to get 3 points on the board against Blackburn - Steve Kean's men have lost their last five away games in all competitions – But they’ve only scored 29 goals this season and may have to work hard for a win.

Advice: 2 pts HT Draw (6/5 Bet365)

Newcastle (13/8) v Everton (19/10)

Newcastle are having a better time of it than many would suggest – They’ve not lost since travelling to Fulham – And can take advantage of the recent Everton slump in form and get a win infront of their home fans.

Advice: 1 pt HT Newcastle (5/2 Totesport)

Manchester (2/5) v Wigan (9/1) (5:30 PM, ESPN)

9/1 about Wigan does not reflect their chances of victory here but Manchester City have lost just two from 14 league games at Eastlands and will be expecting themselves to win and win well to stretch the gap for the last automatic CL place from Tottenham and Chelsea.

Advice: 2 pts Over 2.5 goals, (3/4 Sportingbet)

La Liga

Atletico Madrid (6/5) v Villarreal (12/5) (9PM, SS4)

As talented a team as Athletico Madrid are, they flatter to deceive nowadays and will have their work cut out against one of only two teams to seriously impress apart from the big two in Villarreal. They’ve got every chance of pulling a win out of the hat tonight but their away record – They’ve failed to win 8 of 12 away games – is just enough to put me off.

Advice: Both teams to score (8/11 Victor Chandler)

Barcelona (1/10) v Zaragoza (33/1)

Barcelona effectively have the Spanish League in the bag – they’ve already travelled to Athletico Madrid, the Mestalla, and Espanyol, with only an away El Clasico to come. Against a team like Zaragoza, the value may be in dominance -  They’ve won won their last 10 at the Camp Nou and been ahead by half-time in seven of their last nine there.

Advice: Barcelona to win both halves (5/6 Paddy Power)
