Champions League - Tottenham v Milan

Milan have had a relatively good time of late and haven’t failed to win a game since losing at home to Spurs at the San Siro. A gutsy but nevertheless impressive win over Chievo was followed by a dominant and impressive display against Napoli, where Pato, Ibrahimovic, Robinho and co ran riot after a close first half.

Things were much more tense but even more crucial away at Juventus, as Rino Gattuso, who headbutted Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan after the final whistle of the first leg, scored a scrappy goal to give them a priceless 1-0 win at the Stadio Delle Api.

They were value for their win there, creating plenty of chances to subdue a good Juventus start and defence, with Ibrahimovic notable having a couple of good chances and the rather inefficient Antionio Cassano also missing a couple of chances.

The key to predicting Milan’s chances will be relating their efforts of late along with their first leg effort In the San Siro they lost the game by not imposing themselves on the match early on.  In the first half Tottenham were allowed to see too much of the ball and as such they got an easy ride to half.

After the interval Tottenham were made to work plenty hard enough, and they have their keeper Heurelho Gomez to thank for having a clean sheet to take, seeing as before the goal came had twice kept his side level with two superb saves from Mario Yepes headers. All in all Gomes made 9 saves during the match and he may well need to be on hand to get Spurs through again.

Ibrahimovic - Will fancy his chances of scoring on Wednesday

They’ve got the quality to hurt them, with Ibrahimovic ready to strike again, although as said before Juventus on Saturday, Pato has been the Rossoneri's most dangerous player in recent weeks. The 21-year-old scored the winner in his side's win over Chievo two weeks ago and netted another goal in the 3-0 win over Napoli on Monday, as he put in a man-of-the-match performance. His fitness is an added bonus, along with that of Boateng.

Since beating Milan in Italy, Tottenham have failed to win despite scoring four goals. A 3- 1 defeat at Balckpool was well deserved despite Tottenham creating a whole raft of chances.  Spurs did not go quietly, peppering their opponents' goal before and after the break and repeatedly having efforts cleared off the line, but the hosts held firm until stoppage time and ran out worthy winners. To underline, Spurs had 25 attempts to Blackpool's eight.

Bale - Back against Wolves
Tottenham were involved in yet another cracker at Wolves on Sunday, were three superb strikes earned them a point. They conceded a wrongly disallowed goal however, and will be lucky to call on full back Alan Hatton after he fouled Mijias but wasn’t given a red card.

The biggest piece of team news however, was that Gareth Bale made his return from injury. He’s proven crucial to Spurs success this season and has already destroyed a much higher class full back than AC could wish to have in Maicon, and will be looking to do the same to either Ypres or Jaulkovsky.

Milan have impressed with their attitude by gaining three crucial wins in the race for the Scudetto since losing to Spurs, but they blew their big chance to win the tie in Italy – Tottenham have won all of their home games in the Champions League this season and can be backed to do so again.
