Doncaster St Leger Meeting 2011 - Park Hill Stakes

3.00 Doncaster
DFS Park Hill Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) (Class 1) (3yo+) Winner £45,368 Ch4
Good 1m6f132y

Advice: 1 pt win Sense Of Purpose (3/1 Ladbrokes)

Owner detailsCracking Lass: Back to her best when second to Set To Music last time, although hard to see her reversing that form especially over a longer trip in better race.

Owner detailsMeezenah: Found some of her best form this year, namely when coming home well clear (course record) in Goodwood Group 3 so disappointing she failed to back that up when well beaten at Newbury last time; Loose ground a possible excuse given for her blowout and should take some beating but question mark now.

Owner detailsPolly’s Mark: Admirable mare who has run with credit on all occasions this season, bumping into some classy performers but no answer to Set To Music or Meezenah lately and hard to see how she wins.

Owner detailsSense Of Purpose: Has been extremely progressive this season since winning conditions event at Killarney and beneficiary of fine ride to land Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown last month (form is strong); Might get taken on for lead but should be hard to beat.

Owner detailsGoldplated: Rapid improver who won for fourth time in last 5 starts when taking fiercely contested handicap at Leopardstown last time but that off bottom weight and this expected to be far too tough.

Owner detailsSet To Music: Made it 4 on the bounce when looking like improved horse for step up in trip when ready winner of Galtres Stakes, taking advantage of disappointing performances from several; Shouldn’t ignore her progressive form though and holds a big chance, with three held from her last race and the step up in trip likely to suit.

Owner detailsSpin: Hasn’t built on her 2yo form this season despite running good races on separate occasions, and well held by Set To Music and Cracking Lass last time out; Safely held.

VERDICT: On form this should be between three solid horses in the Queen’s highly progressive Set To Music, Group 3 winner Meezenah, and Dermot Weld’s SENSE OF PURPOSE, who might be the most solid proposition of the three.
