1.25 Doncaster
Polypipe Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (2yo)
Winner £39,697
Advice: 1 pt win Requinto (4/1 Hills)
Lilbourne Lad: Impressive in two Irish wins, when running
out wide margin winner of Listed race before then grinding out Group 2 win and
creditable fourth in Phoenix Stake probably the best form in the field; Creditable
fourth in Gimcrack but penalty again back down at 5 furlongs.
Burwaaz: Looked sure fire winner when beating all but
subsequent winner Eureka on his debut, having pulled all the way; Didn’t need
to do much more when winning at Leicester but Norfolk run was hugely
eye-catching, coming late on in isolation on the far side; Good efforts since
and should be there or thereabouts again.
Requinto: Has impressed with raw speed on all but one start
(when held up over 6f) and previously unbeaten at the minimum trip, overcoming
flat spot in mid race to win Molecomb at Goodwood going away; Nunthorpe was a
massive step up and feeling he wasn’t at his best, like many that week; Can go
well here.
Angels Will Fall: Well backed before debut, able to quicken
out of trouble and win with tons in hand at Windsor before following up in the
Princess Margret Stakes, beating subsequent Group 3 winner with loads in hand;
Pulled her chance away at York and if that effort forgiven, big chance here.
Caledonia Lady: Ran massively above herself when third (fast
closing) in the Queen Mary but hasn’t backed that up much since and passed over
here.
last twice but this not so easy
and others far more solid.
Miss Lahar: A solid fourth behind Kohala at Newbury last
time but won’t be reversing that form, however and deeper contest here despite
her solid profile.
Vocational: A very useful filly when given a lead, she
nearly held off Shumoos on the AW at Kempton last time and should be hard to
catch if getting lead; That said, likely to get taken on here.
VERDICT: A chance is
taken that REQUINTO will be able to get to the lead – Should Wayne Lordan
decide to take on My Propeller and Vocational – and whatever happens, he’s far
better than his poor effort in the Nunthorpe suggests, with the ground possibly
against him that day along with his draw.
