Barrett Steel May Hill Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) (Class 1)
(2yo) Winner £39,697
Advice: 1 pt win Fallen For You (13/8 general)
Everlong: Looked for all the world as if she’d win stepped upto
this trip when second on debut at Newmarket so disappointing that she couldn’t justify
favouritism despite being hampered at the start last time out; Needs much more
here.
Fallen For You: Well backed on debut before winning
impressively, defying slow start and then being pushed out wide to come home
with some ease; That form working out well (runner-up Rhythmic has won well
since and third looked unlucky on her next start) and could take the beating if
she improved for debut.
Lyric Of Light: Ran out a ready winner of Newmarket maiden
for team that holds a strong hand in this division and says a lot that she runs
here out of original entries; Form hasn’t worked out as some would like be
respected nonetheless.
Na Zdorvie: Famous for being last Barry Hills winner at
Chester when getting up from what looked like an unpromising position at
Chester; Step up in trip should improve her but this looks like it should be
too tough.
Regal Realm: Created promising impression when knuckling
down well to land Newmarket maiden but nobody could predict how well the form
would have worked out (subsequent Cherry Hinton winner Gamilati in second,
Albany winner in third, several other winners behind); Went down to a
progressive winner at Ascot and did extremely well to get up at Goodwood
latest; Will improve for step up in trip again and form choice
Samitar: Created god impression when running out Ready
winner of Albany Stakes, looking as if she would improve for experience/trip so
disappointing to see her caught (looked like non stayer) in sales race last
time; This a harder task at 2 furlongs more.
Semayyel: Never going early pace over 6 furlongs on debut
and like so many from stable, improved for that significantly when running pout
fairly ready winner over 7f; This could bring her on again but feeling others
have more to offer.
Switcher: Stayed on strongly to win 9-runner maiden at
Haydock in May by 3½ lengths from previously useful looking Dare To Dream and creditable
Albany fourth when behind Samitar; Ran into progressive sort last time (stable
runs Fallen To You) and needs more.
VERDICT: The claims of Regal Realm at a trip which promises
to suit cannot be ignored but FALLEN FOR YOU made an undeniable impression
first time out and with that form franked there’s plenty of reason to think she
can improve again. Lyric Of Light comes from the right yard to take this while Samitar is a stamina doubt based on what we saw last time.
